The sketch

Because you have to organise the things you want to work out in a drawing, it is useful to make a sketch. Don't be to critical on your sketches. They are your freedom. Never mind if you have no really good drawings in your sketchbook. Try to extend the lines of a sketch. So the line of a (for instance) hip is crossed over to the other side of the body. Or experiment with S-lines all over your page. Lines have a lot to tell you! Listen to them. Try not to work out your sketch too soon.
